Accessible Learning and British Sign Language

ICOD provides the ABC (Access for Beginners to Computing) project, providing one to one or small group support and a range of accessible hardware/software to assist disabled people improve their I.T. and computer skills. Learning is provided in Libraries across Inverclyde and other community learning centres. ICOD is also registered to run British Sign Language Courses, and can deliver Beginners, Level 1 and Level 2 Courses.

Inverclyde Council On Disability’s ABC Project aims to help people who have never had the opportunity to use a computer before due to their disabilities. We help build peoples confidence in learning new IT skills thus improving barriers to learning and employability.

We have a range of adaptive technologies and softwares to suit each individual learners needs such as Big Keys Keyboards, Trackball Mice as well as SuperNova software which helps people who are visually impaired.

Courses on Word Processing, Internet, Digital Photography, Movie Maker and Core skills in IT as well as SQA units are taught on a 1-1 basis or small groups for 1 hour sessions.

Learning is based in the many libraries which are situated across Inverclyde.

The ABC Project are organising a Laptop Clinic, starting on Wednesday 14th September 2011 from 10am - 12 noon at 9 Clyde Square, Greenock, PA15 1NB for 5 weeks. If you would like to learn how to use your laptop, or simply improve your skills, please come along to the clinic.


The ABC Project are organising a Digital Imaging and Photography class, starting on Thursday 15th September 2011 from 1pm - 2:30pm at 9 Clyde Square, Greenock, PA15 1NB for 10 weeks. If you would like to learn more about photography and printing your photos, then please come along to this class.


British Sign Language Courses

The Practice Group is starting up again every second Thursday beginning Thursday 26th April 2012 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at the Craigend Resource Centre, Greenock. If you have recently learned sign language, please come along and practice your skills with others.
